Deze film heeft zowat alles; oog voor de actualiteit, handgeschilderde typografie, en uiteindelijk mooie grafiek. Eigenlijk 10 ontwerpen die 1 worden, met een diepere bodem dan je op het eerste zicht van het afgewerkte schilderij kan afleiden die het ook ietwat mysterieus maakt. Of hoe kunst kan voortvloeien uit iets banaals…

McDo goes Green

“McDonald’s is going green — swapping its traditional red backdrop for a deep hunter green — to promote a more eco-friendly image in Europe. “

Niet echt nodig als je het mij vraagt… Nu ziet het logo er in Europa anders uit als in de rest van de wereld, zal het waarschijnlijk minder goed leesbaar zijn (geel op groen geel op rood), verdwijnt productherkenning gedeeltelijk (naast de golden arches springt ook de kleur van het logo meteen te binnen) en is het weinig eco-vriendelijk om elke McDo in Europa te herschilderen.

Urbex

Dan zit ik in mijn derde bachelorjaar, is het 2010 en ga ik UrbEx’en. Het uiteindelijke medium staat nog niet vast. Een boek, tentoonstelling, film of alledrie? Het uiteindelijke product zal een naslagwerk zijn over verschillende gebouwen, een terugblik op vroeger.

Wikipedia says: Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of urban areas or industrial facilities. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. It may also be referred to as “draining” (when exploring drains) “urban spelunking”, “urban caving”, or “building hacking”.

The nature of this activity presents various risks, including both physical danger and the possibility of arrest and punishment. Many, but not all, of the activities associated with urban exploration could be considered trespassing or other violations of local or regional laws, including – but not limited to – invasion of privacy and certain broadly interpreted anti-terrorism laws.

Videoclips kunnen al eens bizar zijn, de eighties an sich waren behoorlijk fout om nog niet te spreken over de drugs. Put ‘em together and you get this piece of artistic genius.
